Meet Dave, the visionary behind the lens and the main contributor to majority of the stunning shorebirds photos and content on this website. Hailing from the UK but having called Malaysia home since 1988 when he started work for the Asian Wetland Bureau (now part of Wetlands International), Dave’s birding journey has been nothing short of extraordinary.
He has had a lifelong interest in birds, particularly on bird migration and shorebirds. During the 20 years Dave and his family spent living in Penang, he spent many hours watching birds, and was even fortunate to sight a then unrecorded shorebird species which was subsequently described as White-faced Plover Charadrius dealbatus.
In 2020, Dave and his family moved to Sarawak, Malaysia, where he continues to be captivated by the avifauna of the region. He supports bird conservation efforts through his voluntary work with various environmental groups such as Malaysian Nature Society, Wild Bird Club of Malaysia and Shorebirds Peninsular Malaysia Project among others.
